What is the cheapest convertible in the United States?

The cheapest convertible in the United States for 2016 is the Smart Fortwo Cabrio. Sorry if we got your hopes up, but actually we’re being totally serious when we say it is worth the investment. It is the only convertible you can get brand new for less than $20,000, it weighs less than 2,000 pounds, gets up to 39 miles per gallon, and comes with a turbocharged engine. Do you know what I am saying?

Smart Fortwo

Okay, so it’s no roadster. Even with the turbocharged, 89-horsepower engine, it takes 10 seconds to get to 60 miles per hour, and we don’t want to know what the top speed is, but if you want to feel the wind in your hair, the Smart Fortwo, made by Mercedes-Benz, is your most affordable option.

Cabrio Tritop

The Cabrio is the most expensive Smart Fortwo model, but it is the only one that you can’t get claustrophobic in. There are three different settings for the cabriolet soft-top roof. The first is with the top up, but as soon as the sun comes out, you can open the large sliding canvas sunroof. Still uncomfortable? Push the button again to engage a wide-open roof. It opens at ANY speed and only takes 12 seconds to complete the transition. Additionally, you can remove the roof bars if you want, further enhancing the open-air experience.

If you just can’t get on board with the Smart Fortwo, the next step up in the Mercedes-Benz segment is the C-Class. For double the cost, you get quadruple the value, and you get to say you purchased one of the very first Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolets because it is a brand new production model for 2017.
